Good Reasons To Have A Wireless Network

Having a wireless network opens up many possibilities.

Wireless networks provide an inexpensive and easy way to share a single Internet connection among several computers. This means you only need one modem, and you can add additional computers to the network just by plugging in a wireless card and turning them on. The new machines are connected to the Internet immediately.

A wireless network also lets you access files and printers from anywhere in your home. It allows you to synchronize files you have on your laptop with your home computer, and you can easily send files between computers as well. Using a wireless network to transfer files is faster than sending them via e-mail or burning them to a CD! Because printers connected to one of the computers on a network are shared by all the computers on that network, you can write documents anywhere in your home, press the print button, and collect the printed files from a printer that is connected to another computer.

If you are a game player, youve probably noticed that your games often have an option to play over a local area network or LAN. Wireless networks are LANs! This means you and your family can play these games together and dont have to be on computers that are next to each other to do so. Lets face it its more fun to play against real people, and its even more fun to play against people you know instead of strangers on the Internet. Your games will also play much faster over your LAN. Additionally, you can connect game consoles to the Internet and begin playing these games online. It is much easier to experience online play through an Xbox or PlayStation 2 that is connected to a wireless network than have to use a modem!

Wireless network connections are always on. This means you can connect to the Internet whenever you want without waiting for your modem to dial in. Laptops can be carried from room to room, and they will always have access to the Internet. Since wireless networks operate without the need to log in, you dont need to set up usernames or passwords.

The single greatest thing about a wireless network is that it is, well, wireless! The biggest reason to have a wireless network is because it eliminates the need for costly, ugly, and dangerous wires trailing all over your house. You can use your computer in any room you want no more being trapped near a phone outlet or walking over that tangle of wires in your home. The cost of getting enough Ethernet cables can add up, and sometimes, you may even have to make holes in your walls to set up a wired network. If youre renting, of course, this is impossible. With a wireless network, you dont have these problems – you can even use your computer outside if you want! And if you move, there is no need to disconnect and pack up all those wires, and you no longer have to examine all the wires for damage whenever your Internet connection goes down.

You can see how having a wireless network can simplify your life.

How to Make Millions Playing Video Poker

Most people will tell you that the only way to walk out of a casino a Millionaire is to walk in a Billionaire, but the fact is this is not the truth. It is only the easiest way to do it.

If you are the type of person who is not afraid to risk it all for the big payoff then this may be for you.

Video poker machines can be found in every casino both land based and online casinos. These machines have the best chances of making you a millionaire in any casino.

All you need is a credit card with at least $20,000 and the nerve to risk it, in what can be less then 20 minutes. I recommend saving up $20,000 dollars before trying this and not just running up your credit card, but when I first tried it I did just run up my card.

Please keep in mind that this is not a guaranteed way to win money, and if you do not win money you can wind up twenty thousand dollars in debt, but it has made me a lot of cash, over the past 2 years I have paid all my expenses playing poker in this manner.

I usually start with at least 20,000 dollars, and making $1,000 dollar bets before the $20,000 is gone I have had at least 1 good hand where I have at least made back my money and can now start going for the big money.

Do not increase your bets to more then $1,000 until you have made at least $100,000.

I first discovered this method almost 2 years ago; I was spending my weekends down in Atlantic City playing poker, blackjack and roulette, and not winning any money, but during the week I would play a free video poker game from home, and I was winning millions of dollars every week.

So one day I decided to give it a try and instead of spending my money at the table games I went right to the video poker game, and by the end of the weekend I was up almost $60,000.

Now every few months I go down to either Atlantic City or Las Vegas, I have a bank roll of $20,000 and I make a few hundred thousand to get me till the next time.

Have You Downloaded Firefox Yet?

The internet browser market has long been dominated by Internet Explorer, but a new kid on the block — Firefox — is making strong inroads against the Microsoft product’s dominance. To date, over 75 million copies of Firefox have been downloaded by users around the world. Here are some reasons why you should replace Explorer with Firefox.

1. No Pop Ups. Unlike Explorer, Firefox has a nifty pop up blocker in place. No more garbage to fill your screen as you search the internet with Firefox. Can’t say the same for Explorer, however.

2. Your Security. Spyware, trojan horses, and ActiveX controls are stopped in their tracks. Explorer limits through unreliable third party downloads.

3. Quick Downloading. Downloading files is a snap as they are done quickly and painlessly. Once Firefox completes the download you will be prompted to clean up [remove] unneeded files.

4. Tabbed Browsing. Surfing the internet is easier as users can open up one window and set tabs for quick access to multiple web pages. Specifically, all your browser windows actually work within one window, each marked by tabs that you can click in and out of with ease.

5. Tons of extensions, themes, and plug-ins. You can customize Firefox to work the way you want it to work. Download an ad blocker, a new toolbar, a special theme, or include plug-ins such as Adobe Reader, Windows Media Player, Shockwave, Flash Player, and more.

Firefox is not perfect, but it goes a long way further than Explorer in giving users an enjoyable internet experience. For this reason alone, it is worth being downloaded by you.

Help to choose your monitor

Making the right choice in a computer display or monitor is an important part of involving yourself in today’s web-browsing and multi-media technology. Right now, you are viewing this in a computer monitor (unless you’ve had someone print it for you and you’re reading it on paper because your monitor made it completely unreadable) and how it appears to you depends entirely on the quality of your display.

Monitors

What are the differences between an LCD screen and CRT monitors?

LCD screens are the current trendy looking; flat screen displays that are now sold with practically all bundles, whereas CRT screens are bulky older style technology. Apart from the space saving that the flat screen LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) offers, it also generates very little heat and radiation, uses considerably less power and is less reflective. LCD screens present excellent image quality. CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors on the other hand, occupy a lot more space on your desktop, do generate heat and use more power and usually have a curved screen (although flat screen CRT monitors are available).

From a display point of view, the major difference between the two lies in how the image is created, and the resolution that the screen can accommodate. Each pixel in a LCD screen is produced by a tiny cell containing a layer of liquid crystals that bend light in response to electric energy. While they can be clearer than CRT screens, they are limited by only one optimal resolution. Setting the screen at a higher than optimal resolution reduces the overall screen image, and at a lower one causes the screen image to appear “pixelated”.

A CRT screen creates its image through cathode ray emissions striking the phosphorous lining on the back of the tube glass. It offers more detail in images and colour at higher resolutions.

One other difference to note is the display size. Display size is the diagonal measurement across the screen. A 17 inch (these have not been metricated yet) display is measured from one corner diagonally to its opposite. In a LCD display, this covers the entire framed display, but in a CRT monitor, the display image is usually 8%-10% smaller than the framed screen area, which means a 17″ CRT monitor has to have a bigger framed screen than a LCD.

Compatibility

There are possibly two issues of compatibility to consider. One is the compatibility of the screen with your workspace and the work you want it to do. If you have a small space, then the slim features of the LCD will be a major part of your decision. It is better to buy an all-digital screen rather than one that plugs into a standard video card (which is analogue) and then translate an analogue signal to digital. An all-digital display will offer brighter images. Compatibility with your computer’s video card is another consideration. You need to be sure that the video card you have in your computer will provide the screen resolution your require from your monitor and match the refresh rate.

Technical considerations

Dot Pitch. This is the distance between the same colour dots in any direction on a display. A smaller dot pitch enables easier reading of characters and better colour clarity. The maximum dot pitch you should consider for high quality graphics and text is .28 for a 17″ monitor and .31 for a 21″ monitor.

Screen resolution. The number of pixels a screen displays determines the resolution. A resolution of 1024 x 768 has 1024 pixels in the horizontal plane, and 768 in the vertical. The higher the resolution, the more detail is displayed. Be sure that your video card matches the resolution you require.

Refresh rate. This is the frequency at which the screen image is being refreshed to avoid flicker. A vertical refresh rate of 75 HZ (cycles per second) delivers a flicker-free environment and will reduce eyestrain and fatigue.

Cost

Of course it all comes down to what you can afford. But a good quality display is a good investment in your work environment. CRT monitors can be bought very cheaply. Digital LCDs can become very expensive. Manufacturers are now offering displays with inbuilt television receivers and speaker systems than can enhance your overall environment and improve the flexibility of your purchase. Ultimately, it depends on what you want to see on your desk as much as what youn want to see on your monitor. You can spend as little as $200.00 or well over $2,000 and you can do it all online. Myshopping.com.au offers you that special advanyage of being able to compare the specifications and prices of hundreds of different brands and vendors.

Web design solutions

Any company needs to have a web site. But how can it be developed? And who can do it?

On the net there are plenty of web design teams. You can also find nice templates if you like. But this will not solve your problem. In many cases a company needs a dynamic website, good looking and full featured. Such sites are very hard to find and you will need a custom software development company to program the back end.

When you intend to hire such companies to design your web site you need to know exactly what features needs to be integrated in the back end and linked to the layout. The design of the web site will be done based on the back end. The web design must be W3C standard compliant to be compatible to most of the web browsers.

The back end can be coded in many programming languages such as PHP or ASP but then the site must be installed on a compatible server. Use javascript only for small features and web design not for the entire site engine. If you don’t do this, many of the pages will not be indexed correctly by search engines.

Note that your site needs to be optimised for search engines. This can be done with a good web page design, easy to be crawled.

Better Online Communication Makes Business Sense

Many companies are now doing the majority or even all their business online and foregoing the Brick and Mortar storefront. It is easy to see why that trend has happened. For one thing, the cost of setting up such a business is relatively inexpensive and easy. There is no need to pay for the overhead of a physical building. Also, the cost of maintaining a Web site is minimal. Moreover, the Internet provides a convenient and efficient way of marketing products. As more and more people are spending time on the Internet, the market of online customers continues to grow.

But when businesses shift from face-to-face customers to anonymous online customers, there is a loss of personal connection and trust. All the online spamming and scamming hasnt helped the matter at all. That has eroded the trust in E-commerce and the credibility of many companies. How are you gaining and maintaining customer trust? What are you doing as an online vendor to communicate to your customers?

In an online world, business just doesnt stop after hours and on weekends. What are you doing to answer your customers questions? Here are a few things that you can do to improve communication with your customers:

1.Offer a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page and online product support information. This is an excellent way of answering basic questions that may otherwise flood your support email. For example, our voice-changing product, MorphVOX, has a FAQ on the common issues that customers may come across. We also have provided detailed online documentation on topics that users may want to explore more. This takes care of roughly 95% of the questions people may have.

2.Add a support email link on your Web site for issues that cant be resolved by the Web support. At Screaming Bee, we try to answer our customer questions within one business day. More often, well answer questions within an hour of receiving the email. I believe that we have gained many loyal customers because of our aggressive efforts to meet needs in a timely manner.

3.Provide a message board or forum for customers to voice their opinions, add comments, and interact with each other. Remember that people are social creatures and like to be heard. This also helps to build up a community of users that are empowered and have a say in the products and services that you provide.

4.Write a personal email to each customer. Have you followed up on your customers after they have made a purchase of your products or services? This is essential, not only from the perspective of getting feedback on how to improve your offerings, but more importantly, maintaining the trusting, long-term relationship with your customer. Send them an email within 3-4 weeks of the first purchase. In this way their experience with your products and services is fresh in their mind. Remember, a customer who is ignored is a customer who is lost.

Spending time and effort on better communication with your customers will pay off. Your company will rise and fall not on the customers you gain, but on the customers that you dont lose. Loyal customers will be the ones that give you the best testimonials. They also provide you with the richest, organic, word-of-mouth marketing. Remember that every happy customer is a testament of your companys success.

Gmail is Still Beta for a Reason

I think it was the threat of a Gmail revolution that prompted Yahoo to increase the storage space parceled to its free email accounts last year. (Yahoos paid email at the time, of course, gave storage to spare. Its an example of how the whiff of corporate competition can benefit end users or consumers.) Who remembers rummaging through our Yahoo email accounts deleting emails only weeks, if not days, old? I think Yahoo copied their color coded warning system of diminishing storage space from the easy-to-comprehend terror levels issued by the federal government. Gmails arrival, though, changed this we were ready for something better. Its search-based organization, something we like to see at ConductSearch.com, figured to be a natural step for email world to take.

I believe that something better came, too. But, something that Im unlikely to avail myself to because I, like most, am not ready to forego the free, web-based email I am comfortable with for Gmails blessings.

Gmail, like Google, was marketed beautifully from the outset. How did they manufacture buzz? By attaching a sense of exclusivity to a Gmail address, thats how. Thats no small feat considering that Gmail doesnt cost anything. But, they used the invite system and people, exercising the herd mentality as were wont to do, were all over it. Web geeks were all over Gmail and invites for an address even made it to eBay. I have no doubt Googles marketing department loved that; they might have even put them up for auction themselves.

When the hubbub died down a bit I got mine from a friend who works at Google. I admit to all (and to Mike) that I felt sheer gratitude for the address. The marketing worked. Thats about when the magic ended for me. For starters, it seemed as if Google couldnt let some standard features be, likefreakin folders!

I had a chat with ConductSearch.coms IT director who, like me, had and disregarded his Gmail account, as did others around the office. The latest numbers show that Gmail accounts handle less than 4% of email volume and I believe this number is generous. The number one reason for discontinuance was forgetting passwords. In other words, there was nothing compelling enough to get a Gmail account and keep it.

I also learned that others, too, didnt like the way Gmail revolutionized email. Perhaps this progress was a little forced. Granted, you can go on any techie board and read how people love Gmail, how effective its spam filters are (might have more to do with that Gmail < 4% penetration), how the flow works, etc. Ah, rubbish. For starters, email is, to me, about communication. And its a slower form of communication than IM, so I dont need it to be cutting edge, just convenient. I want my email ordered. Before computers, when we were waist high in paperwork (I still am, amazingly) we needed folders and labels. Naturally, as email evolved an organizational system of folders and labels by subject or sender was produced. And, hey, look what else developed trash cans, just like in real life. Love throwing away that clutter. Well, Gmail trashed the perfectly good email format where trash cans and folders ease the burdens of Inboxes. Gmail even makes it tough to delete useless email, too. Google intimates that deletion of email is a non-priority because users are given so much storage space. Baloney. Its an irksome element and on some level I think it has something to do with the fact that Im served text ads in my own inbox. People shouldnt wonder why Gmail is still Beta, though some joke that Google forgot to take down that label. Its not a coincidence; Google took a shot at revamping email as we know it and it didnt work yet. Unfortunately for Gmail, Instant Messaging has stolen much of their potential thunder and as convergence continues between voice, text, and video revolutions within a confined space, like email, will not be forthcoming. I do believe, though, that Google has a longer-term plan for Gmail. All the applications that Google develops (admittedly, almost none of it is original or innovative Google calendar, picture sharing, the free word processing download, to name a few) leads me to believe that Google is trying to integrate an all-involved interactive experience for the web user. Im pretty sure that Gmail will someday be seamlessly integrated with instant messaging and document sharing within a Google-server based operating system that will free users from any web-borne virus or malicious hacking. Would be an impressive corporate application, would it not? It explains, to me at least, Googles giant server complex being built on the Columbia River thats been the source of so much speculation. Laser Printers Have Decreased Further Price And Increased Quality

In the case of poor quality toner in a laser printer, the black areas won’t be as dense. However, now that good quality, name brand color laser printers are much more affordable, I think it is time for their reconsideration. Enter the color laser printer, which has a relatively low toner cost and does its best quality printing on inexpensive, plain laser paper. In addition, higher quality rag-content bond papers can also be used effectively with a color laser printer. SMEs need an inexpensive laser printer that achieves quality results quickly. If you’re intent on reproducing photos, you’re better off with a good quality inkjet printer instead of a laser.

Since then, laser printers have decreased further in price and increased in quality. A laser printer is a common type of computer printer that reproduces high quality text and graphics on plain paper. Toner Cartridge Depot presents a convenient way to purchase quality office products, laser printer toners, ink cartridges and printer cartridges at competitive prices. Plus, low-end colour lasers often produce colour output quality that rivals that of much more expensive printers. Quality, resolution, and colorThe standard resolution in most laser printers today is 1200 dots per inch (dpi). – Excellent quality: The text is very clear with no dots visible anywhere – exactly what you would expect from a quality laser printer.

When it comes to quantity and quality, I use a Laser printer and if it happens to be a color laser, so be it. Color laser printers are for people who want the speed and text quality of a black-and-white laser but require color, too. However, only the most expensive color laser printers can match the true photo quality of the best photo ink jets.

While colored toner is available, color laser printers are generally much more expensive. 30% of a new product This product is a recycled version of the used toner cartridge for laser printer. The toner is black in most cartridges, but may be cyan, magenta, and yellow in color laser printers. Inexpensive color laser printers usually ship with a starter set of toner cartridges, which generally hold about a third of a normal cartridge. Last year the answer would have been “go inkjet” because of quirks in laser printer toner technology. Color laser printers add colored toner (typically but not always cyan, yellow, and magenta

see CMYK) in three additional steps or passes. bulk toner will do but must include instructions for my minolta qms 2300 DL laser printer. Click here to save on laser printer toner. Firstly, if I went out and spent this much on a laser printer I wouldn’t expect to be shafted with a ‘starter toner pack’. When it comes to laser printers, the main consumable cost you will encounter is toner cartridge replacement. A slightly modified colour laser printer addresses these toner particles to a solid support. Because an entire page is transmitted to a drum before the toner is applied, laser printers are sometimes called page printers. In a write-black printer the laser positively charges the printed areas to attract the toner, which gives better detail than a write-white printer.

Built on an advanced print engine, this 8ppm monochrome laser printer is productive and easy to use. First, laser printer cartridges are able to print thousands of pages and are usually cheaper per page than inkjet cartridges. Dot-matrix printers can print up to 500 cps, and laser printers range from about 4 to 20 text pages per minute. Because laser printers do not use ink, they have less image smearing problems than inkjet printers and are able to print pages faster. The result is a color laser printer that is ready to print as soon as you connect it. Today a comparable laser printer that boasts more memory, a higher print speed and duplexing capability can be had for about $300.00. The fastest color laser printers can print over 60 pages per minute (3600 pages per hour).

The laser printer does not print in color, but my project didn’t require color. If you print a lot, you too may want to consider adding a laser printer to your computer set-up. So whenever I click on the print icon, the document is automatically sent to the laser printer. Most laser printers print only in monochrome. The application being used must support Postscript in order for the laser printer to print Postscript documents. A laser printer with duplex printing can print on one side of the paper, turn the paper over, and print on the other side.
